WHAT GET LOUD FOR KIDNEYS IS
We are more than a social media page. We are a social movement that creates and inspires change. Much needed change surrounding the topics of kidney disease awareness and prevention, kidney transplant and donation. We care about the people affected by kidney disease and those connected to donation because their stories are real. Their stories have the potential to inspire, empower and ultimately create much needed change. We recognize that we are stronger together and people must come first if we are going to make progress. Get Loud For Kidneys encourages others to speak up about their connection to kidney disease and donation while joining us on our mission to create communities that represent change and progress moving forward.
WHY IT IS IMPORTANT
Kidney disease is an epidemic. The number of people being diagnosed with kidney disease increases every year while the wait list continues to grow longer without any promising solution in sight. There is so little engaging awareness that most people don't even fully know all that the kidneys do, let alone have knowledge about living kidney donation. Some people are aware, but that is because they have a family member or friend who has been affected or they work in the medical field. This is not acceptable. We need better support throughout the entire system from the importance of kidney health, kidney disease symptoms, life on dialysis, getting a kidney transplant, to life post transplant. There needs to be more visibility and talk about pediatric kidney disease, living kidney donation and post surgery support with more urgency put behind finding progressive treatment options for patients. We need to move out of the dark ages with kidneys and into the future of possibility and change.
HOW WE WILL CREATE CHANGE
Get Loud For Kidneys is nothing without the people, the stories, and the participation of others. We are here to provide support, educational materials and tools to help make a difference. Soon we will have an official nonprofit status which will enable us to apply for grants, but for now we are very dependent on our supporters. This doesn't mean we can't make a difference, it just means we need to work together to get the word out.
